TRNSMT Festival

Transmit Glasgow is Scotland’s largest urban music festival, which has been held since 2017. Its main aim is to bring together the world’s biggest artists and promising up-and-coming bands on a single stage in the city centre.

The festival emerged as an alternative to T in the Park and has since become its successor. The debut edition proved a huge success: 120,000 people attended the three-day event. Headliners included Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro.

Over the years, TRNSMT has become a key fixture in the UK music calendar. Over the years, its stages have hosted such renowned artists as Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Sam Fender, Pulp, Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi, Calvin Harris and many others have performed on its stages over the years. The festival regularly attracts tens of thousands of visitors and is considered one of the biggest music events in Scotland.

One of the main advantages of the Glasgow festival is its urban setting. Unlike many British festivals, music lovers do not need to travel to remote rural areas and sleep in tents. After the concerts, music lovers can return to their hotel or home using Glasgow’s public transport network. In addition to the music, guests can enjoy food courts, bars, relaxation areas, merchandise, VIP spaces and various entertainment activities, making the festival a fully-fledged summer event rather than just a series of concerts.

Where does the TRNSMT Festival take place?

The festival’s permanent venue is Glasgow Green – Glasgow’s oldest city park, located not far from the historic city centre. This is where every edition of TRNSMT has been held since 2017.

The choice of this location has been one of the reasons for the festival’s success. Glasgow Green is within walking distance of the city centre, railway stations, hotels, restaurants and other amenities. Thanks to this, visitors do not have to deal with the accommodation and transport issues typical of large festivals.

The park itself can accommodate up to 50,000 guests daily during the festival. The space allows for the main stage, additional stages, retail areas and visitor facilities. Its central location in Glasgow makes TRNSMT one of the most accessible major music festivals in Great Britain, particularly for international tourists, who have the opportunity to combine attending concerts with exploring the city and its attractions.

TRNSMT Festival Map

Ahead of the festival, the organisers traditionally publish a detailed map of the Glasgow Green site to help visitors find their way around the stages, relaxation areas and service points. The layout has been updated for TRNSMT Festival 2026: the site will feature five stages, several food areas, bars, water points and separate spaces for VIP guests.

The Main Stage, where the festival’s headliners – Richard Ashcroft, Kasabian and Lewis Capaldi – will perform. Adjacent to it are the Smirnoff presents King Tut’s Stage, the BBC Introducing stage and the Beatbox presents Boogie Stage dance floor. The Hangout area is also returning in 2026 – a separate space for guests aged 18 and over featuring entertainment, DJs, comedy acts and additional bars.

The following are marked separately on the map:

  • entrances for General Admission and VIP guests;
  • Accessible Entrance for visitors with reduced mobility;
  • VIP Garden;
  • food courts and bars;
  • medical and welfare centre;
  • water refill stations;
  • phone charging points;
  • areas for the festival’s partner activities.

The organisers note that most visitors will enter via the West Entrance, whilst the East Entrance is reserved for guests with Accessible tickets. VIP ticket holders have a separate entrance and their own facilities within the festival grounds.

The map is particularly useful for those planning to visit several stages in a day: the Glasgow Green site is quite large, and during performances by popular artists, moving between venues can take longer than it seems at first glance.

To view the latest festival layout, the organisers recommend using the official website and the TRNSMT mobile app, where the map is updated alongside the performance schedule.

The TRNSMT Festival 2026 line-up traditionally combines established stars of the British music scene with young artists who are just gaining popularity. Over the course of three days, festival-goers will be able to enjoy indie rock, alternative music, pop, electronic and hip-hop. Of particular interest is the return of Lewis Capaldi as one of the festival’s main headliners, as well as performances by Kasabian and former The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft.

In previous years, the festival line-up has featured equally well-known artists. In 2017 and 2025, Biffy Clyro were among the headliners. In 2025, Wet Leg also set the festival stage alight.

Information for visitors

Your first trip to the TRNSMT Festival requires some advance planning. Despite its urban setting, the festival attracts tens of thousands of people every day, so it’s best to sort out accommodation, tickets and transport before you visit. One of the distinctive features of TRNSMT is the lack of camping: in the evening, guests disperse to hotels, apartments or return home. This is precisely why the atmosphere here differs from classic British festivals such as Reading or Download.

The most affordable option remains the one-day ticket at £79.50, whilst a full weekend pass costs £229.50. For those seeking a separate entrance, comfortable relaxation areas and access to VIP facilities, special VIP packages are available. Hotels near TRNSMT Festival

TRNSMT is not a camping festival; there is no campsite on the festival grounds, so all guests stay in the city. The most convenient option is to stay in the centre of Glasgow. From Glasgow Green, you can walk to the Merchant City, Trongate and City Centre areas, where most of the hotels and apartments are located.

Popular options near the festival site include:

  • Motel One Glasgow
  • Leonardo Royal Hotel Glasgow

  • Aparthotel Adagio Glasgow Central
  • Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre

Accommodation prices rise significantly during the festival, so it’s best to book your room a few months before your trip. Many visitors also book apartments through short-term rental services. As the festival takes place in the city centre, even accommodation in the outlying areas of Glasgow usually poses no logistical problems.

The weather in Scotland in June is quite unpredictable. It might be sunny in the morning, but a couple of hours later there’s a risk of rain combined with strong winds. That’s why most regular TRNSMT-goers recommend dressing in layers. The best option:

  • a waterproof jacket;
  • a hoodie or sweatshirt;
  • comfortable trainers that you don’t mind getting dirty;
  • a sun hat;
  • a lightweight raincoat.

It’s advisable to bring a raincoat with you even if the forecast looks good. Glasgow is famous for its changeable weather.

How to get there?

One of the main advantages of TRNSMT is its central location. Glasgow Green is easily accessible by almost any form of transport.

  1. By plane. The nearest airport is Glasgow Airport. From there, you can reach the city centre by the Airport Express bus or by taxi.
  2. By train. The most convenient stations to use are: Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street, Argyle Street, and High Street. From most of these, it takes about 10–20 minutes to walk to the festival.
  3. By bus. During the festival, public transport services are increased. Many routes pass close to Glasgow Green.
  4. On foot. For those living in central Glasgow, this is often the quickest way to reach the venue, especially after the concerts have finished.

Parking

The organisers traditionally recommend using public transport. Temporary traffic restrictions are in place in the festival area, so there is no provision for private parking for the tens of thousands of visitors. Some guests leave their cars in city car parks and cover the rest of the journey on foot or by public transport.
