At present, The Snuts are among the UK’s most popular rock bands. This is evidenced by the fact that three of their albums have reached the top three in the UK charts. Moreover, their very first album reached number one on the UK Official Albums Chart. You’ve no doubt heard many of their hits.

Who are The Snuts?

The Snuts are an indie rock band from Scotland, formed in 2015 in West Lothian, Scotland. The band consists of four members: Jack Cochrane (guitar and vocals), Callum Wilson (bass guitar), Joe McGillveray (guitar) and Joe McGillveray (drums).

All the band members, apart from Jack Cochrane, attended the same primary school. They met Jack Cochrane at secondary school. The band was formed back when all the members of The Snuts were still at school.

According to the band members themselves, they have been greatly influenced by popular British bands such as The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys. Early in their career, the band performed as the support act for well-known British rock bands such as Kings of Leon, The Kooks and others. W. L.’s debut album, released in 2021, reached number one on the UK Official Albums Chart and brought them fame in the UK.

The band has performed on numerous occasions at many popular festivals, such as the Reading Festival and the Latitude Festival.

Awards and nominations

The Snuts have a considerable number of various music awards and nominations to their name, including:

• Number one on the UK Official Album Chart. The band’s debut album, titled “W.L.”, reached the top spot on the prestigious UK Official Album Chart. It is worth noting that The Snuts became the first band from Scotland in 14 years to reach number one on this chart.
• Top 3 albums. Over the years, The Snuts have released three albums, all of which have reached the top 3 of the UK charts.
• SAY Award (Scottish Album of the Year). The band were nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year award in 2021 for their debut album “W.L.”
• Number one in the independent chart. The band’s third album, “Millennials”, released in 2024, reached number one in the UK independent chart.

Members of The Snuts

All members of this band are from West Lothian, Scotland. They also all attended the same school, where they formed the band.

Jack Cochrane

Lead singer and guitarist of the band, as well as songwriter and frontman of The Snuts. He pays close attention to his physical fitness in order to cope with the demanding concert schedule.

Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson is the bass guitarist for The Snuts, who also plays an active role in songwriting. On some tracks, he provides backing vocals.

Joe McGillveray

The band’s lead guitarist; many of the band’s songs are built around his guitar parts. Music critics note Joe McGillveray’s eclectic guitar style, which blends many contemporary musical genres with elements of classic indie rock.

Jordan Mackay

He plays the drums and contributes to the band’s songwriting; he goes by the nickname Joko, by which he is better known than by his real name. He first showed an interest in the drums at the age of four, inspired by his father’s example.

The Snuts Concerts

One of the band’s most distinctive features is their vibrant live performances. Over the years, the band has performed at many popular festivals. One of their most successful festival appearances was at the Glastonbury Festival. The Scottish indie rockers have performed at this popular festival on several occasions. The band has also performed several times at the Victorious Festival.

The band tours extensively across the UK and many European countries. The band’s major tours over the years include:

• W.L. Tour (2021–2022). A tour in support of their debut album, which took place across UK cities following its release.
• The Burn The Empire Tour (2022–2023). A concert tour in support of their second album, which took place across cities in the UK and several countries in Western Europe.
• Concerts in Scotland. The band also frequently performs in Scotland, where all its members are from. Among the band’s notable concerts in Scotland is the Barrowland Ballroom.

Albums and popular songs

The Scottish band The Snuts have released three albums:
