History of the festival

Latitude Festival was founded in 2006 as an alternative to traditional music events. The initial idea behind the festival was to combine music with various forms of entertainment to create something unique and appealing. Music became an indispensable companion to theatre performances, literature and visual arts.

In an atmosphere of joy and sound, it has become a pleasant place to spend time with the whole family, who still flock to the festival to relax and recharge their batteries.

In addition to this well-known festival, the organiser, Festival Republic, oversees major projects such as the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Since its inception, Latitude has become an important part of the UK's cultural calendar, expanding its programme and infrastructure while maintaining an intimate atmosphere focused on comfort and creativity. Each year, the line-up is adjusted to meet the needs and requirements of visitors based on their wishes and feedback.

Is Latitude a family festival?

Yes, Latitude Festival 2025 is rightly considered a family festival. There is a varied programme for children and parents, with attention to the smallest details, a well-thought-out sequence of performances and a programme intensity tailored to the length of the daytime concerts.

The family area includes three main venues:

  1. Kid’s Area.
  2. Inbetweeners Area.
  3. Enchanted Garden.

In the Kid's Area, children can take part in cooking workshops, theatre performances, circus shows and creative workshops. The Enchanted Garden hosts themed picnics, forest walks and dance evenings.

Teenagers will enjoy the DJ school, interactive games and art projects in the Inbetweeners Area. These areas can be visited separately or in combination with each other. A map of these events is available on site.

The programme is designed to satisfy the preferences of every participant, regardless of their age. Latitude has become one of the few UK festivals where the participation of every member of the family is valued. Every year, the programme is updated, taking into account the wishes of previous visitors. New activities are added that may be of interest for entertainment, to make the daytime and evening leisure time as full as possible.
