The 2000 Trees Festival is one of Great Britain’s most distinctive independent rock festivals. It began as an alternative to huge commercial music events and, over the years, has become a key venue for fans of alternative rock, punk rock, indie rock and heavy guitar music. Despite its growing popularity, the festival deliberately maintains a relatively intimate format, allowing the audience to enjoy an intimate atmosphere and a sense of closeness to the artists. In this article, we’ll take a look at what the Two Thousand Trees Festival is all about, where it takes place, what conditions await guests on site, and how the festival grounds are laid out.

What is the 2000 Trees Festival?

2000trees 2025 Official Aftermovie

Two Thousand Trees is an independent British music festival dedicated to rock music in all its forms. Since its launch in 2007, the organisers have been committed to creating an event that stands apart from massive festivals such as Reading & Leeds or the Download Festival. They focus not on scale, but on atmosphere, a high-quality line-up and comfort for guests.

The festival was founded by six friends who wanted to create a real event for fans of the contemporary alternative scene. Over the years, both up-and-coming artists and well-known acts have performed on the stages of the 2000 Trees Festival. Past headliners have included Frank Turner, Jimmy Eat World, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Thrice, Alexisonfire and many others.

One of the festival’s distinctive features is its independent status. Unlike many major music events in Great Britain, 2000 Trees is not owned by international concert corporations and continues to develop as an independent project. The festival has received numerous UK Festival Awards for this philosophy.

Another reason for the festival’s popularity is its size. The organisers deliberately limit the venue’s capacity to around 15,000 people. This allows attendees to move freely between stages, whilst distances within the site remain relatively short.

Where does the 2000 Trees Festival take place?

The festival takes place on the grounds of Upcote Farm near the village of Withington in Gloucestershire, in the south-west of England. The nearest major town is Cheltenham, situated approximately 15 kilometres from the site.

The location was not chosen at random. Upcote Farm is set amongst the picturesque hills of the Cotswolds, which create a unique festival atmosphere: green fields, wooded areas and open spaces for camping. Many visitors note that it is precisely this combination of natural surroundings and a compact site that makes 2000 Trees special compared to larger music events in Great Britain.

2000 Trees Festival Map

The 2000 Trees Festival site is considered relatively compact by the standards of British music festivals. This is why most of the stages, campsites and facilities are within walking distance of one another. According to regular visitors, even the walk from the outermost campsites to the main stage usually takes no more than 15–20 minutes.

The festival map usually shows the following main areas:

  • Main Stage — the festival’s main stage;
  • Forest Stage — a stage in the wooded part of the site;
  • Axiom Stage;
  • Cave Stage;
  • camping areas;
  • car parks;
  • food court and shopping areas;
  • first-aid posts;
  • toilets and showers;
  • water points.

2000 Trees Festival camping and glamping

Most festival-goers stay at the campsite. It’s included in the price of the 4-day and 3-day tickets; there’s no extra charge for a tent – you just need to bring your own and pitch it in the communal area.

There is a more comfortable option – glamping – which is ideal for those who don’t want to bring their own kit. The price is approximately £500–£900+ per tent for 2–4 people for the entire festival. This may include a bed, a camp bed, mattresses, bed linen, and sometimes even electricity.

There is a separate parking area for motorhomes. It costs £100–£200+ per pitch.

Outside the festival site, you can stay in Cheltenham, which is a 20–40-minute drive away. During the peak of the festival, prices range from £80 to £200+ per night.

App

The festival has an official mobile app, which publishes the performance schedule, news, a site map and notifications during the event. The organisers recommend downloading the latest version of the app before you travel, as this is where the latest changes to the schedule and information about the stages are posted.

How to get there?

The festival takes place at Upcote Farm near Cheltenham, in the countryside rather than in the town centre. There are several ways to get there.

  • By train + shuttle bus or taxi (the most convenient option). The most popular route is to take the train to Cheltenham Spa, then change to the shuttle bus running from the station to the festival site. It’s important to note that the shuttle bus usually operates on arrival and departure days, rather than throughout the entire festival period.
  • You can also take a taxi. The journey to the festival site will cost approximately £20–£45.
  • Official coaches. Official coaches run directly from major cities such as London and Reading. They take you straight to the festival entrance. A return ticket costs around £50+.
  • By car. If you’re planning to drive, simply enter the following address into your sat-nav: Upcote Farm, GL54 4BL. Then follow the signs. Bear in mind that there are often traffic jams on the approach during the first few hours of arrival.
  • Flying in from abroad. The nearest airports to the festival site are: Birmingham Airport, Bristol Airport and London Heathrow Airport. From there, you can take a train to Cheltenham Spa, and then catch a shuttle bus or a taxi.

Parking

Official car parks are available for visitors near the festival site. A parking pass must be purchased separately from your ticket. Day and multi-day parking options are also available.

Holders of a multi-day parking pass can enter and leave the site freely throughout the festival. This is convenient for those staying in a hotel or holiday let outside the festival grounds. For guests travelling in campervans, there is a separate Campervan Parking area, which is accessed via a dedicated entrance. The cost of parking for the entire festival is £25, or £10 for a single day.
