In 1910, the arena hosted its first international match between England and Wales.

In 1927, the British listened to the first ever live radio broadcast of a rugby match on BBC radio. It was broadcast from Twickenham Stadium.

The first ever television broadcast of a rugby match, which took place at the same arena between Scotland and Great Britain as part of the Calcutta Cup, dates back to 1938.

In 1991, the stadium hosted the first Rugby World Cup final. The British lost to the Australians 12-6.

In 2004, the stadium underwent reconstruction, and its capacity increased to 82,000 seats.

In 2005, the old south stand was demolished and replaced with an identical north stand. As a result, the stadium took on the shape of a uniform bowl and became completely enclosed for the first time in its history.

In 2018, a new east stand appeared in the arena.

The facade of the sports facility is decorated with twin towers, designed in 1909 and which have become its symbol.

Twickenham Rugby Stadium is considered an icon of English rugby, celebrating its centenary in the 2009-2010 season.

Along with Allianz Park (now StoneX Stadium), sponsored by Allianz, it is used to host the biggest rugby competitions.

Fans often refer to the arena as ‘The Cabbage Patch’ because the land on which it stands was previously used to grow cabbage.
