Veelgestelde vragen

Where to watch Top Gear?

The popular British car programme can also be viewed on the Prime Video online platform. It is also available on BBC One.

Why did Top Gear end?

The programme has not been officially cancelled, but only suspended indefinitely after presenter Freddy Flintoff was seriously injured in an accident during filming (the last season, 33, was released in 2022). The Top Gear brand will continue to exist, although there will be no new episodes for the time being.

Who was the Stig on Top Gear?

Stig is an anonymous professional test driver at Top Gear, who always appears in a white racing suit and helmet, talks to no one, and drives fast laps on the track. He appears in storylines involving test drives and ‘stars in a decent car’. The first Stig was Perry McCarthy (wore a black suit). The most recognisable was Ben Collins (until 2011) and the last known was Phil Keen (filmed until 2022). His identity is deliberately kept secret – this is one of Top Gear's “gimmicks”.

Why did Jeremy Clarkson leave Top Gear?

In 2015, the BBC dismissed Clarkson following an incident with the film crew: during an argument, he struck the producer on the head over a dinner issue. The presenter later admitted that his behaviour was foolish and that this was the reason he lost his job on the programme.

Who died from Top Gear?

All Top Gear presenters are still alive. There have been accidents during the filming of the programme, but none of them were fatal. Viewers often talk about the episode from 2006, in which Richard Hammond was involved in a car accident, was seriously injured, but survived.
